Welcome to FoodX! These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of our app and services. By accessing or using FoodX, you agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy, and any additional guidelines we provide. Please read them carefully. If you don't agree, you cannot use FoodX.

1. Introduction & Definitions

FoodX is a global social platform where users can share food-related content, connect with others, and explore culinary ideas. We're based in the United Kingdom, but we're excited to bring FoodX to users worldwide. These Terms are designed to protect you, us, and the FoodX community.

  • "Addendum" means these additional terms governing the Community Food Feature.
  • "Community Food Feature" means any functionality that allows Users to post, list, share, donate, exchange, sell, or otherwise make food or food-related information available to people in their local area through the Service.
  • "Food Content" means any description of food, ingredients, recipes, nutritional claims, allergen information, handling instructions, images, videos, or other related materials a User provides.
  • "In‑Person Exchange" means any meeting, pickup, drop‑off, delivery, tasting, event, or other offline interaction between Users arising from or facilitated by the Service.

1A. Platform Role; Digital Marketplace

FoodX is a technology platform that facilitates a digital marketplace for food related content and community led exchanges, including the ability for individuals and households to offer permitted food items where lawful. Our mission is to enable food prosperity and allow people to earn from their skills at home, subject to local law.

  • Intermediary Only. FoodX is not a food business, caterer, restaurant, or retailer. We do not prepare, store, package, deliver, take possession of, or title to any food; we do not control listings, pricing, or fulfillment.
  • No Merchant of Record. Except where we explicitly say otherwise in writing, we are not the seller or merchant of record for any transaction between Users.
  • No Agency or Employment. Use of the Service does not create any employment, agency, partnership, joint venture, or franchise relationship between FoodX and Users.
  • User Responsibility & Compliance. Users are solely responsible for ensuring their activities comply with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Safety & Moderation. We may remove content or restrict accounts to protect Users or comply with law, but we do not guarantee to monitor all content or prevent all harms.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use FoodX. If you're under 18, you need parental or guardian consent.

You're responsible for ensuring your use of FoodX complies with all laws in your country or region.

3. Account Security

Keep your account credentials (username and password) confidential. Don't share them with anyone.

Notify us immediately at support@foodx.com if you suspect unauthorized access.

We're not responsible for losses or damages if you fail to protect your account.

4. User Content

You own the content you post like text, images, videos, audio, captions, comments, tags, and similar materials.

By posting User Content, you grant us a nonexclusive, transferable, sublicensable, royalty free, worldwide licence to use, copy, modify, distribute, display, and perform it to run, promote, and improve FoodX.

We can remove any User Content that violates these Terms or that we find inappropriate, at our sole discretion.

5. Transactions & Payments

FoodX facilitates transactions between Users through the platform. We are not a party to any transaction between Users unless explicitly stated.

  • Payment Processing. Payments are processed by our third-party payment provider. By making a purchase, you agree to their terms of service.
  • Transaction Fees. We charge a 1.5% fee on completed transactions where money moves between a buyer and seller. This fee is deducted automatically.
  • Refunds & Disputes. Refund policies are set by sellers. If you have a dispute, contact the seller first. If unresolved, contact us at support@foodx.com.
  • No Cash Transactions. All transactions facilitated through FoodX must use our approved payment methods. We are not responsible for any arrangements made outside the platform.

6. Food Safety & Compliance

Users who list, sell, or share food through FoodX are solely responsible for complying with all applicable food safety laws and regulations in their jurisdiction.

  • Allergen Information. Sellers must accurately disclose all allergens and ingredients. Failure to do so may result in account suspension.
  • Hygiene Standards. Users offering food must meet the hygiene standards required by their local authority. FoodX does not inspect or certify food preparation facilities.
  • Licensing. Where required by law, Users must hold appropriate food business registrations or licences. FoodX may request evidence of registration.

7. Intellectual Property

The FoodX name, logo, FoodBlock protocol, and all associated trademarks, designs, and content are owned by FoodX Ltd or its licensors.

  • Our IP. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from any FoodX materials without our written permission.
  • Open Protocol. The FoodBlock protocol specification is open. You may build applications that create and consume FoodBlocks under the terms of the protocol licence.
  • Feedback. If you provide suggestions or feedback about FoodX, we may use it without obligation to you.

8. AI Training

We use User Content and related interaction data to develop and improve our AI systems (for example, recommendations, safety/abuse detection, and image or video understanding).

  • Content Types. We may use text, images, videos, audio, captions, comments, tags, and associated metadata to develop and improve our models.
  • Choices. Where required by law, you may opt out via in app settings or by contacting privacy@foodx.com.
  • External Models. We do not share your personal data with third party AI vendors for their independent training without your explicit consent.
